BALLISTEC CARBON: BallisTec is Cannondale's proprietary method of high-strength, high-stiffness carbon construction. It is the ideal blend of the most advanced materials in the world combined with the most advanced carbon engineering and design. The results speak for themselves. It enables Cannondale to push the boundaries of light weight while tightly controlling the frame's overall stiffness and ride feel on bikes like the new SuperSix EVO, new SuperX and Synapse.
It starts with a base structure composed of ultra-strong fibres like those used for military ballistic armouring, and high-strength, high-impact resins similar to what is used in the construction of carbon baseball bats; light, stiff and designed to endure thousands of deformation cycles.
Cannondale then combine these fibres and this resin in a lay-up designed to maximize the anisotropic (direction-specific) qualities of the fibres in a carbon structure that is extremely light, extremely stiff and capable of withstanding high loads without damage or loss of structural integrity, and ensures that they are up to the rigors of real-world riding.
To tune the overall stiffness and ride-feel of the frame, Cannondale strategically add the stiffer, but more brittle higher modulus fibres to create an interconnected network of stiffening fibres throughout the frame. This allows them to precisely tune in different amounts of stiffness and deflection at different points throughout the frame, creating an unbelievably balanced and nuanced ride.
SPEED SAVE VIBRATION ELIMINATION TECHNOLOGY: The chain stays and seat stays on the SuperX feature Cannondale's trademark SPEED SAVE technology. Flattened cross-sections and sophisticated carbon layup allows the SPEED SAVE features to act like a micro-suspension system, deflecting vertically to absorb trail shock and vibration, while staying extremely rigid laterally for power transfer and confident cornering.
TAPERED HEAD TUBE: The tapered, oversized head tube houses a 1-1/8" to 1-1/4" tapered carbon steerer fork for the best blend of lateral and torsional rigidity and light weight.
CLEAN CABLE MANAGEMENT & REMOVABLE FRONT MECH MOUNTS: Interchangeable in-headtube cable guides hold the housing securely and support every possible cable configuration. Replaceable, removable front derailleur mount for a cleaner look with 1x drivetrains.
FLAT MOUNT DISC BRAKES: Featuring the superior all-weather power and modulation of hydraulic disc brakes. In addition to providing great braking and tons of mud clearance, they also allow Cannondale's frame designers to engineer in more compliance in the rear stays. 142x12mm rear and 100x12mm front thru-axles keep everything stiff and solid under hard braking.
