2017 LOOK 765
Designed as an endurance racing or long-distance fast riding machine, the LOOK 765 is really does deliver in pretty much every department, establishing a new benchmark for high performance bikes at this price point. The LOOK 765 is a bike that balances perfectly all of those elements that make for thoroughly engaging and just plain fun riding - extremely responsive on climbs, out of corners or while just barrelling along over rolling UK roads, it handles superbly over all surfaces while simply soaking up road clatter, whatever the road conditions.
For 2017 LOOK have expanded the 765 range to include disc braked models for enhanced braking control, and a High Modulus carbon fibre version of the frameset for those seeking that extra edge in performance or low weight.
It is extremely rare that you come across a bike as well balanced, elegant and classy as the 765.
"the bike impressed on all surfaces, with a well-damped ride but without the feeling of disengagement which you get with some endurance bikes. There was no feeling of flex or power loss when climbing and descending was confident, whilst the 765 was sure footed on fast turns and roundabouts. Overall, the feeling was much more of a performance road bike with lively handling and good vibration damping rather than a super-stable endurance bike. As such it will appeal to the more performance-orientated long distance rider, who is looking to press on without sacrificing ride comfort" Cycling Weekly
The LOOK 765 is available either as a full bike or as a frameset, which can then be built up into a complete bike in our workshop using components of your choice.
Building on their success in 2016, we are offering exclusive Epic Edition versions of LOOK's standard brochure builds across most of the 2017 range, featuring high-performance low-cost upgrades to the standard specifications.
2017 LOOK 765 Technologies
The secret behind this sublime balance of ride characteristics is LOOK's unrivalled expertise in carbon frame construction. With tube shapes derived from the World Tour winning 695, the carbon lay-up for the 765 was the result of a multi-year project, which sees the embedding of flax fibres for the first time in strategic areas of a LOOK frame - flax has been utilised in the motor-sport and aeronautic fields for some time, as it absorbs vibration and shock much more effectively that carbon fibres alone, making an ideal material if used properly for reducing vibration induced fatigue in cycling.
ENDURANCE GEOMETRY: the 765 has Endurance geometry with a slightly shorter, higher cockpit than on a classic Race geometry bike (for example the 795). The cyclist has a less stretched out position and so is more comfortable for long distances.
ASYMMETRIC CHAINSTAYS / EXTENDED SEATSTAYS: major design work has been done on the rear triangle to improve comfort and performance. The chain stays are asymmetric: the right chain stay is oversized compared to the left to balance forces due to transmission of the pedalling force. They are short and rigid to guarantee a dynamic and responsive bike. Still with a view to improving ride quality the seat stays have been extended and are slimmer to enhance comfort.
INTEGRATED DI2 COMPATIBLE CABLES: the new 765 routes all the brake and gear cables inside the frame, and the cable housing end stops are removable. It is thus possible to change them to assemble the frame with a mechanical or Di2 groupset.
PF 30 BOTTOM BRACKET: the 765 bottom bracket uses the Press Fit 30 standard. Integration of the bearings into the frame offers several advantages: longer bearing life, increased stiffness for better force transmission, and finally ease of fitting and removal.
FLAT MOUNT DISC BRAKES: “Flat mount” is the new standard and has been especially developed for road bikes with disc brakes. It allows the installation of the calipers directly onto the chainstays and forks, integrating them as much as possible to keep the weight down and aesthetics intact.
HM (High Modulus): “High-end” fibres with enhanced stiffness - on average double that of standard modulus fibres. HM fibres allow for more frame rigidity under pedalling forces, without the added weight. LOOK bicycles are made with either HM 3K or 1.5K fibres, the latter having a finer weave, therefore lighter (ie. a 1.5 fibre =1500 threads in 1 fibre).
For over 30 years, LOOK has developed a unique expertise and a vast experience of combining different types of fibres to achieve specific desired properties. In the case of the LOOK 765 HM, the result is a bike with lower weight and enhanced agility.
