Introducing the Orbea Orca Aero Disc

It’s our favourite time of year here in store. Not only are we enjoying the best time for riding, but we’re also excited to be bringing in new models and new colourways throughout the summer. Following on from last year’s successful launch of the Orbea Orca Aero we’re glad to see the continued development of this bike. We’re all in agreement that it’s one of the most stunning aero bikes we’ve ever seen, and it rides like a dream as well.  Super fast over any terrain, smooth, and with the kind of sublime handling that aero bikes are often missing. From the moment this bike was launched last year it was at the forefront of aero technology.  It was [...]

All-New SystemSix Launched

After all of the rumours and speculation, the all-new Cannondale SystemSix is here. It has been a long time in development, but Cannondale have deliberately taken their time, rather than jumping onto the aero bandwagon, and the result has certainly been worth the wait.  Cannondale have developed the SystemSix with the aim of exploiting every one of the latest technical advances and relaxations of UCI regulations to deliver the fastest all round aero bike in the world.  And they have done it! >> full details

Guest Blog – Lessons from a bike build:

Words by Molly Weaver Having recently taken a break from professional cycling the time came to give back my team bikes and build up a new machine. It was only then that it dawned on me how little I knew about bikes. I knew how to train and race, but the lack of knowledge that came with the luxury of team mechanics was clear. I never touched my bike except to ride it. I’m still very fortunate to have the support of Genesis and Epic Cycles in my latest two wheeled pursuits, and could have left my beautiful new bike to be built by the pro’s, but the time to gain some more mechanical knowledge had long since passed. Now [...]

Epic Tubeless Tyres

The time for tubeless tyres has most definitely arrived. The key things that make a good tubeless tyre are the speed at which they seal, resistance to cuts and burping, and the performance value of the tyre - but alongside this they must be relatively easy to fit and remove. There are some great tyres out there which are impossible to take off without thumbs of steel or workshop equipment at your disposal. A 5-star review of a tyre in pure performance terms is all well and good, but if you need a team of mechanics to simply remove the tyre then this isn’t a realistic option for most people. Our Picks – Road: At the moment the market [...]

Introducing Orbea Factory Racing’s Max Gibbons

Hot off his victory in the final round of the Welsh MTB series, securing the series title in the process, it’s safe to say that Max Gibbons has made a big step up this season. At the age of 19 he has time on his side, and with only 4 years of focused training and racing behind him, the progress he’s made this year is a sign of things to come. Epic Cycles has always had a policy of supporting riders. In the past this has been based around teams, but going forward we’re looking to support individual talent. Young, old, male, female, and across all disciplines. Max is one such talent. A name to watch out for in [...]

Umbria and Abruzzo on a Road Bike

We always enjoy reading of customer adventures - this time a belter from Italy "On previous visits to Abruzzo, I’d watched road cyclists on the switchbacks of the Gran Sasso massif with some envy. I had also toyed with the idea of making the whole trip unmotorised, taking in the Valnerina and Sibilini mountain range on the way. This trip was a compromise between carrying the bike by car, which always seems perverse, and the slow, ponderous exercise of hauling camping equipment in full touring mode. I packed some essentials in bike bags and opted for ‘credit card’ travel based in pre-booked overnight accommodation....."   Head over to the The Slow Lens blog for the full story (opens in new window), complete with awesome images. Welcome to Colnago!

Colnago bikes are famed throughout the cycling world for their excellence in design, performance and finish.  But the thing that really sets them apart is their sheer class.  There is something about Colnagos that makes them more than just another super bike.  Whether it's the elegant tube shapes, the huge range of lovely paint jobs, the sublime ride quality, or the depth of knowledge and understanding that you just know is embedded in every frame, it's hard to tell - but what is clear is that in the last couple of years the world has caught on to what makes these bikes so special, and Colnago has emerged as the pinnacle of cycling style and class. And nothing epitomises [...]

3T Bikes Are Here

If ever there was a brand that has the cycling world talking just now it's 3T.  The brains behind the emergence of 3T as a major bike innovator is Gerard Vroomen – the mainstream cycling world first became aware of Vroomen through his previous brands, Cervelo and Open. And with 3T he has taken all of his knowledge, passion and creative thinking, combined it with the manufacturing heritage and expertise of 3T, and delivered a small but truly ground-breaking range of premium bikes that is nothing if not innovative.  And which might just change the direction of future cycle developments.  The rave reviews from anyone who has seen or ridden one are evidence enough that 3T is a brand [...]

Orbea Terra Rival 1x Custom – Gallery

Clean lines in the racer's classic red/black/white MyO colours, with PRO finishing kit and DT-Swiss wheels that complement this carbon Orbea Terra perfectly. It’s true to say that the Terra is rapidly becoming a firm staff favourite – it is just so good at pretty much everything!  It’s fast, engaging, light weight, tough, super versatile, and handles superbly.  And means that the question “where shall we go today?” just got a much wider range of answers.  As Orbea would say, just get out and explore.

LOOK 785 Huez – Video

Excellent video review from Cycling Weekly, that pretty much sums up our own view on the LOOK 785 Huez RS.  That it is one of the most beautifully balanced, comfortable and practical pro-level race bikes we have ever ridden, whatever type of riding you plan to do, and whatever kind of rider you are  -   “this bike feels absolutely incredible…shooting forward at the merest nudge of the pedals…LOOK has got everything right with the 785 Huez RS” Cycling Weekly Editor’s Choice.
