Curve Belgie Disc

High-end Performance Road Bike

The Curve Belgie is affectionately named after Melbourne’s infamous “Belgie Ride,” a short, sharp, multi-surface shop ride that often resembles a CX race rather than a road ride.

In 2015, the original Curve Belgie was introduced to the world when Jesse Carlsson raced across the US, winning the 6,800 km Trans Am Bike Race by over 500 km. Since then, the Belgie has won crits, raced nationals, and is the bike chosen by legendary Belgian Kristof Allegaert, arguably one of the world’s fastest endurance racers.

While the Belgie’s stablemate, the Belgie Ultra, is focussed a little more on all-road adventure capabilities, extending into light gravel and with additional load carrying capacity, the Curve Belgie is very much a road racing machine – albeit one that is designed to be ridden over routes and courses of any distance, from short sharp blasts and crits, right through to ultra-distance road events like Trans Am and the Transcontinental Race.

Curve Belgie Disc

At the core of the Belgie’s frame is a 3AL – 2.5V Grade 9 Aerospace grade titanium tube-set. This grade is optimal for bicycle frames and chosen for its stiffness, compliance, and durability balance. Titanium absorbs road noise without compromising on performance. There’s no buzzy feedback; it’s smooth as silk and very compliant so that you can spend more time on the bike.

Curve Belgie Disc

Compared to its predecessor, the Belgie Disc V3 features straightened out seat stays and ‘brake bridge’ for a new sleeker and lighter rear triangle. This means better tyre clearance, up to 33 mm. Upfront, the tapered head tube utilises an integrated headset for some gram shedding and a sleeker finish.

The Belgie’s geometry leans firmly towards high performance, but it’s not a traditional race-bike ‘low slung’ bike. The Belgie is responsive, highly stable, and designed to deliver you to the end of your ride without the aches and pains associated with lengthy rides on classic racing machines. It is still very much a fast road bike geometry though – if you are looking for something a little more relaxed, or that is equally suited to tough under tyre conditions, then the Belgie Ultra may be more suitable for you, as it features a longer wheelbase and a higher front end.
