Hot off his victory in the pairs race at this year’s Dales Divide, a 600 km ultra through the Yorkshire Dales, we thought it was the perfect time to introduce our newest Epic Cycles Ambassador Will Robinson. A seasoned ultra runner and rider, Will is taking on some huge challenges both on and off the bike again this year, and we’re looking forward to supporting him along the way.

How did your ultra riding/racing journey begin?
I came across ultra riding when I was 20. I was already a keen ultra runner, but during a uni holiday, instead of partying in Ibiza with mates, I decided to ride my Cannondale SuperSix from Bristol to Athens. I was blown away by the distance you can cover, the people you meet, and the views you’re able to experience.
What has been your favourite riding/racing experience so far?
I have to say Trans America. This was my first “race” and it was a great way to experience America especially during an election year…! During one ride you’re treated to extreme temperatures, elevation and distance. This gave me so many experiences which just left me hungry to push every aspect of ultra riding!
What are your plans for 2024?
I take both my running and riding to a silly place so it’s a mixed bag! Next up is Cape Wrath, a 400km run in Scotland, which will be followed by the Silk Road Mountain Race in Kyrgyzstan. To test the fitness I have my eye on a few FKT’s which are always heaps of fun chasing a shadow! In December I’m planning on a long run across a beautiful country…..!

I’m a massive fan of techno or house when I ride. Chuck me anything with a dirty beat and I’m yours!
Bucket list ride/race?
I dream of riding Tour Divide, TCR and IndiPac…! These are just the pillars of ultra riding which take you to amazing places not always accessible without the support of a race. That being said, there are always new and exciting races popping up!
