The new Genesis Fugio is at the forefront of the emerging “road plus” category – bikes built with 650b wheels and fat tyres, for blasting over rough terrain of every conceivable type. From classic off-road singletrack to pot-holed back lanes.
The Fugio’s big tyres, stiff and super-tough frame, with a balanced multi-terrain geometry, deliver a ride that is nothing short of exhilarating. It’s the mongrel offspring of a hard-tail mountain bike and a hard charging endurance bike…with a big splash of cyclocross thrown into the mix.
With bigger volume tyres on smaller wheels the Fugio future proofs itself in the road plus category, with a MjÖlnir Seamless Double-Butted Cromoly frame and carbon fork. Performance and practicality was the name of the game here with 12mm thru axles front and rear, full internal Di2 and dynamo routing, three bottle cage bosses and mile munching Clement X’Plor MSO 50c tyres.
New asymmetric/dropped chainstays keep the rear end close, despite the big tyres, for handling and comfort and a choice of full Shimano 105 and Rival 1x hydraulic drivetrain handles the power delivery and stopping duties. There are mounts for guards and a rear rack, but the Fugio is most at home with bikepacking bags if you are looking for some multi-terrain adventure.
From road to dirt track and back, the Fugio splits the difference of what modern bikes are capable of.
