Kinesis 4S Disc

The Kinesis 4S (or “4 Season”) Disc is the descendant of the market leading all-round fast training bike that was the renowned Racelight TK.  Featuring true race geometry but with the ability to fit full length mudguards and a pannier rack, the 4S Disc is for the rider looking for a winter bike that will handle like their summer race bike, or a winter bike that they can race through the Summer.  A true four seasons bike.

Using Kinesium, the same proprietary alloy that gave the TK such an engaging and refined ride, the latest 4S Disc has been significantly revised to deliver true all year round performance and capability.

Cycling Plus Winter Bike Test Winner!

Kinesis brings us the 4S which stands for four season-an appropriate moniker for a British-designed frame, as we often feel we've seen every season in one day.
The frame's performance and ride quality makes a versatile bike that doesn't give much away to race machines.

The new Kinesis 4S has been redesigned for disc brakes only – enabling the use of wider tyres, in addition to the superior braking control that is invaluable in a true all-year-round, all-conditions bike.

The 4S Disc also now uses through axles front and back for enhanced steering precision and the widest possible range of compatible wheels. The additional clearance enables the fitting of tyres up to 30mm without mudguards and 28mm with – all within a frameset that is still very much race performance orientated.

The tuned Kinesium tubing is tough, light and delivers outstanding levels of comfort.  The ride is agile and engaging, just as the Racelight TK was before it, but with unrivaled stopping power and control, whatever the season.

Refinements to the frame include improved tyre clearance, along with full internal cable routing and Di2 compatibility.  Integrated and discrete mudguard mounts are key to its place as a winter training and commuting favourite, while rear rack mounts make the Racelight 4S suitable for light touring.

Strip it all back however, and you have a high performance bike for all-round riding, whatever the surface, with plenty of comfort for long hours in the saddle.

The aim of the 4S is to provide a bike that will be worthy of use throughout the four seasons and it has undeniably succeeded.   The frame feels responsive, agile, punchy, when it needs to be, but these qualities are offset with equal amounts of comfort – enhancing characteristics and that is a difficult marriage to make.
A winter bike must be comfortable and hard wearing, but it mustn’t let you forget you’re a road cyclist, and the Kinesis 4S treads this line admirably.BikesETC

The geometry is the same classic road geometry that Kinesis have used for over a decade and a half in establishing themselves as the default for club riders looking for a winter-proof bike that doesn’t mean a big change of position compared to their race or “Sunday best” bike.

Kinesis 4S Disc

Kinesis 4S bikes arrive with us as a bare frameset initially, for building up into a complete bike with components of your choice. The builds below are simply examples using tried and tested components – which we can of course use as a starting point for a custom quotation.
Please visit the Cannondale CAAD13 for an excellent factory built alternative to the 4S – the CAAD13 may superficially appear to be a more ‘race-focused’ bike but it actually delivers a stunningly smooth ride for use over long distances and rough roads, and has become a firm all-round all-year bike –HERE >>
Or visit the NEW Kinesis R1 if you are tempted by the slick simplicity of 1x gearing! –HERE >>

We are currently experiencing supply issues on a number of smaller individual components, parts and accessories, which means we are unable at this time to offer our usual customisation or tailoring services.

As a result we are temporarily unable to offer any fully custom bikes that are built from bare framesets.

We are also temporarily limiting the customisations we can offer to factory built bikes to wheelset upgrades and tyre swaps.

Please note that we are receiving an unprecedented number of orders during the Covid-19 crisis, leading to a longer than usual queues and lead-time before bikes can be built by our workshop team.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these exceptional times.
