The original Gran Fondo Ti was born from direct discussions between Kinesis UK and ourselves. We were eager to create a titanium frame specifically suited to UK conditions — one that offered agile performance paired with enough comfort for long hours on our rougher backroads. Crucially, it also needed to have mudguard clearance without compromising the bike’s sharp, responsive handling.

The latest version features subtle yet significant updates on its predecessors, including clean internal cable routing, a more sloping geometry for smaller sizes, and increased tire clearance, ensuring it’s ready for any adventure.

Titanium is the ideal material for a high-performance all-rounder. It’s lightweight, corrosion-resistant, lively, and comfortable, with a beautifully understated aesthetic. In this case, the titanium used is of the highest quality, boasting ultra-high purity levels for exceptional strength and reliability. This makes it perfect for tackling tough conditions or carrying heavy loads. Beware of cheap imitations — this is the real deal!

For the GTD, Kinesis drew on years of experience with titanium to develop a custom-drawn 3Al/2.5V seamless tubeset sourced from one of the world’s leading titanium suppliers. The GTD retains the fast yet comfortable geometry of its predecessor, the GF-Ti Disc, but now offers increased tire clearance, Thru Axles front and rear, and a reduced overall frame weight. Additionally, the warranty period has been extended to 5 years, underscoring the GTD’s durability and quality.

The expertise of Kinesis UK is evident in the design of the GTD’s rear end. The curved seat stays provide a beautifully compliant ride, while the straightened chain stays enhance lateral stiffness for improved power transfer.

Improvements in Version 2 of the GTD frameset:

• NEW Rider Fit Geometry: Redistributed sizing based around Stack and Reach measurements, with semi sloping frame on the smallest frames. This not only reduces the stand over height but also brings comfort in line with our larger models
• NEW Carbon Fork: Increased tyre, mudguard clearance and mounting point for a dynamo lamp
• NEW Revised BB Shell: Increased internal space to allow the use of 30mm axle cranks with Di2 internal routing
• NEW Improved Cable Routing: Provisions for full gear outer cable from the shifter to the rear derailleur. This protects against water and dirt ingress, preserving shifting performance for longer

Like other Kinesis frames, the GTD features adaptable cable ports, allowing you to tailor the cable routing for your specific setup — whether you’re running Di2 or mechanical gearing, with either a 1x or 2x drivetrain. The frame is equipped with a full complement of bottle mounts, rack mounts, mudguard mounts, and even a chain pip on the seat stay, all designed to enhance your riding and traveling experience.

Kinesis has seamlessly integrated the replaceable rear derailleur hanger into both the Thru Axle and the frame’s dropout. This design enhances the hanger’s rigidity while maintaining its ability to break away in an emergency, ensuring the precise and reliable shifting your derailleur demands. The custom dropouts are CNC-machined from solid billet titanium and include a discreet Di2 routing hole, enabling super-clean cable management.

The Kinesis GTD comes to us as a bare frameset, ready to be built into a complete bike in our workshop with the components of your choice. With a wide range of build options and tyre configurations, you have the freedom to create your ultimate distance machine — the meticulously refined GTD.
