If there is one frameset that can take credit for establishing the reputation of Kinesis UK it’s the Racelight T. Originally designed to make winter training fun, the Racelight T has always delivered a hugely responsive and engaging ride, with bags of UK-specific practicality, such as proper mudguard mounts and a focus on simple maintenance for coping with winter grime and salt etc. And all at a highly affordable price point.
While the Racelight T has been around in various iterations for over a decade and a half, it has received a number of tweaks to add to comfort and performance and extend its use even further into commuting, light touring, and Audax. For 2017 Kinesis made perhaps the biggest changes yet to their much loved Kinesis winter training frame, without detracting at all from the agility, stable handling and fun factor that riders have always appreciated in the Racelight T. As Road CC put it “eager enough for a club run or chain gang but not too much of a handful on the wet and leafy winter tarmac, or loaded up with panniers“.
Kinesis’s biggest selling frame has been updated from 7005 to 6061 aluminium tubing and this has improved both ride quality and pedal feedback , whilst shaving a big chunk of weight from the frame. They have also switched to a tapered headtube, so the Kinesis T3 is now a perfect match for the Kinesis full carbon Tracer fork, for sharper and more responsive handling.
The hugely popular Racelight T geometry remains, as does the ability to cover miles in all weathers, whilst putting a smile on your face.
