Orbea created the Avant Carbon range for performance-orientated riders looking to extend their horizons, whether in terms of distance or in terms of the kinds of “road” surface they are riding over. In other words, a fast bike that reduces fatigue, is designed to ride long distances, and that is perfect for the biggest of challenges – Gran Fondos, dirt road epics and marathon road events. But it is equally suitable for riders wanting a fast paced bike but a slightly less extreme position.
Flexibility and practical performance in real-world conditions have been the key design principles for the Avant’s development – mechanical or electronic shifting, powerful and ultra controllable disc calipers, big tyre clearances. The Avant is perfect for everything from spring racing on rough roads and cobbles, to all day epics where reduced rider fatigue is paramount.
The Avant’s All-Road Endurance Geometry is a result of Orbea’s years of research and experience into the ergonomics of long distance riding over imperfect surfaces. The distance between axles is a little longer than in traditional race bikes, which means the Avant is stable, easy to handle and has excellent vibration absorption for increased comfort. A higher handlebar position combine with a slightly shorter reach to allow for a more relaxed position, which again reduces riding fatigue after a long ride, especially one over rough roads.
The Avant Carbon uses Orbea’s “OMP” high modulus carbon fibre for high strength to weight ratios, enabling Orbea to produce the same ride feel and reliability as heavier fibres but at a lower overall frame weight. The Avant Carbon Disc also allows for larger tyres, which extends the versatility of the Avant even further, onto rougher terrain.
