ORBEA ORCA OMX
Orbea Orca OMX
The Orbea Orca OMX is arguably the world’s most balanced road racing bike – as responsive and agile as most all-out light weight premium race bikes, as light as most dedicated climbing bikes, as stiff as most top level sprinting machines and as comfortable as any endurance bike. All in a package that is both practical (despite being extremely clean lined and integrated) and more customisable than any other bike on the market – with new levels of custom painting at not extra cost.
‘One of the most exciting new bikes for 2020. Wonderfully accomplished all-round ride, great smart design features with it’ BikeRadar
The Orca OMX is not a replacement for any of Orbea’s existing models. It is a top-of-the-range addition that aims to be the ultimate bike for all performance-minded riders that are looking to take on a full range of real world riding conditions – whether pro or amateur, on the flat or up in the mountains, over short all-out distances or all day epics, and on all types of surface that roughly qualify as “roads”. What the Orca OMX is NOT is a bike that is only great at one particular thing – it’s takes all of the latest developments in road bikes and combines them is a stunning all-round package.
‘Given the versatility of this bike, you may be wondering if it’s a case of “jack of all trades, master of none”. In this case, the full, original and oft-forgotten quote actually sums up the bike much better: “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one”. An N+1 killer.’ CyclingTips
The Orca OMX sits alongside the Orca Aero; borrowing many of it’s wind cheating features and much of its bottom bracket stiffness for power transfer, but with lower weight and greater levels of comfort. It also sits alongside the Orca OMR, which offers very similar weight but is designed with a slightly tighter geometry (and is optimised for slightly smaller tyres) for maximum “flickability” for those riders who want that tiny bit of additional agility and race reflexes for bunch racing.
The Orca OMX also complements the Avant, Orbea’s dedicated endurance machine (albeit with a more aggressive performance geometry) – it can accommodate and has been optimised for larger tyres, up to 32mm and beyond, with ease. It also offers slightly greater levels of comfort throughout the frame than its pure racing cousin, the Orca OMR. But power transfer is more than maintained, through a super stiff bottom bracket area that rivals the Orca Aero for all out sprinting prowess.
ICR: Internal Cable Routing is carefully routed along the cleanest and most practical path under the stem and through the head tube, with no rub or rattle, and is optimized for both traditional and electronic shifting systems.
ICR: Integration and clean lines are implemented without any impact on practicality. Stem adjustment and handlebar swaps are straightforward, and the cockpit is easy to partially dismantle for traveling with a bike box.
SEATPOST CLAMP: the seat post clamp is smoothly integrated into the frame, decreasing the likelihood of contamination and increasing aerodynamics. Plus, it looks sleek too.
SADDLE CLAMP: The sleek and secure clamp of the Orca OMX seat post is a proprietary design that allows tilt adjustments to be made independently of the saddle fore-aft position.
