In Basque, Urrun means “far.” True to its name, the Urrun is designed to take you further, opening the way to distant horizons. But the name also carries deeper meaning for Orbea, reflecting the long journey of development behind this perfectly balanced e-bike and how far the brand itself has come.

TUNED SHIMANO EP600 MOTOR – RS GEN 2 MC

The latest Orbea Urrun is powered by the Shimano EP RS Gen 2 MC system, the same drive unit developed for the all-conquering Rise. Striking the perfect balance of simplicity, power, and weight, it delivers natural, elastic assistance with best-in-class battery range—ready for your most epic adventures.

RS stands for Rider Synergy – Orbea’s very own firmware for Shimano EP motors. It creates perfect synergy between rider and bike, delivering the most natural ride feel. Gen 2 means that this is the second generation of Orbea’s RS firmware – this increases the maximum torque to 85Nm. MC is short for Mountain Control, a specific motor tune for off road use.

RIDING MODES

The Orbea Urrun has two distinct personalities, unlocking new ways to ride—whether you’re heading out for long adventures or quick, fast-paced sessions.

In RS mode, the motor delivers the most natural assistance and maximum range, perfect for epic all-day rides. Switch to RS+ mode when you need extra punch—providing greater traction on technical climbs, support at lower cadences, and increased maximum assistance up to 85Nm.

While the Urrun comes with default RS and RS+ settings, both modes can be customized to your riding style through the Shimano E-Tube app.

At the core is Shimano’s EP motor system, equipped with some of the most accurate sensors and fastest monitoring available. Orbea’s RS Gen2 firmware harnesses this precision to mirror rider effort more closely than ever. Push harder, and the Urrun responds instantly with smooth, powerful assistance—delivering a ride that feels more alive and natural, with zero lag.

ORBEA BATTERY TECHNOLOGY

Orbea has developed its own 630Wh battery using the latest cell technology, delivering more energy per gram than any other battery on the market. By packing greater capacity into a smaller, lighter unit, it maximizes range without compromising the agile handling that defines a true lightweight e-MTB.

Smaller than a water bottle and weighing just 1kg, Orbea’s upgraded range extender adds 210Wh of extra capacity. It fits neatly into a dedicated bottle cage—simply plug it in and ride. The Urrun draws power from the extender first, so once it’s depleted you can drop it off and continue with the main battery.

To keep you informed, the centrally mounted Shimano SC-EN600 display provides clear readouts of battery status, ride data, and motor performance.

FRAME DESIGN

When it comes to performance, everything starts with the frame. The Urrun’s all-new design offers greater compliance for improved comfort and better ground tracking—especially at speed. The result is more control and less fatigue on long rides. Every tube has been carefully shaped to balance rigidity, reduce vibrations, and deliver a fun, responsive ride.

Modern manufacturing techniques allow Orbea to reduce weight while precisely controlling compliance. Each tube is double or triple butted and hydroformed, creating optimized profiles that balance strength and comfort. This process also enables polished welds and integration of the SIC system, which routes cables through the headset to eliminate rubbing and rattling while giving the Urrun a clean, modern look inspired by its cousin, the Laufey.

The Urrun is built around a 120mm fork, with geometry carefully tuned to maximize control and deliver a ride that’s both fun and confidence-inspiring for every rider.

Trail Ready Geometry

The sloping top-tube, slacker fork angle, and longer reach add stability in faster rougher sections or on the descents. The short, uninterrupted seat-tube lets riders use longer travel dropper posts, making the bike easier to ride on the downhills but also making it easier to control with a fully loaded rack.

The latest Orbea Urrun offers new ways to ride – the custom mounting kit, which is included with every Urrun, makes it easy to mount accessories, or it can be totally removed to give the cleanest look for mountain bike adventures.  You can choose to add a sturdy rack, or Orbea’s custom mudguards which offer great weather protection.
