Ever since opening Epic Cycles over a decade ago, we have had one straightforward goal, and while the way we operate has changed over the years as technology and products have changed, that goal is still the same. To help people find the best possible bike for their unique individual needs.
The bikes we sell cover all kinds of riding – road, gravel/multi-terrain, MTB, adventure, commuting etc. They also cater for all budgets – but what they all have in common is quality. Here are some of our favourite Epic bikes of 2020 under £1000. With our simply unbeatable EVERYDAY EPIC LOW PRICE we can help you find the perfect bike for your buck.
Cannondale Trail (Mountain Bike):
Completely re-designed in 2019, the Cannondale Trail brings a level of performance and handling normally reserved for far more expensive machines. Its confident geometry, well thought out components and advanced frame technology make a difference you can feel from the first pedal stroke. For 2020 the line-up has been extended with a new entry level SmartForm C3 alloy frame option, alongside new 120mm travel fork models at the top end of the range.
The design and geometry of the frame, technical features that you would normally expect to see only on higher price models, and the best alloy tube-set available on the market at this price point make the Trail suitable both for the beginner looking for a high quality first bike that they certainly won’t outgrow in a hurry, and the enthusiast looking for an exceptionally good value upgrade. The Trail also makes a superb adventure bike for those looking to bike-pack across heavier terrain.
With many bikes under £1000 to choose from in this range, and with a starting price under £400, you’ll be able to pick from a variety of different groupsets, forks, and wheelsets when choosing your Trail.

Cannondale Quick (Leisure/Hybrid):
The 2020 Cannondale Quick offers a top quality range of swift, sporty bikes that are perfect for getting fit, city cruising, commuting or just getting out into the fresh air and feeling good.
The Quick offers a very nimble ride – too many hybrid or urban bikes are cheaply built, heavy and a bit of a drag. The Quick isn’t one of them – it comes with mudguard and bag carrying capability, but it’s all accompanied by a swift engaging ride that gets you places in comfort with a dash of fun thrown in. Why should fitness be a slog?!
The entire range is built around a premium lightweight aluminum frame, from the acknowledged world leaders in aluminium frame technology, and a choice of forks, including lightweight carbon fiber forks with 360° reflective accents and a suspension fork in the ‘CX’ models for additional comfort over rougher ground with only a small weight penalty.
Every bike in the Quick lineup comes in at an incredibly low price point, starting at under £500, so you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Cannondale Synapse Alloy (Road):
The Cannondale Synapse Alloy is not merely an aluminium copy of their award winning Carbon Synapse – it features mudguard mounts, clearance for larger volume tyres, and disc brakes that expand its versatility without sacrificing its sporting soul.
Coming in at under £1000 in both the Sora and Tiagra models this is a perfect bike for spirited rides with a group, fast winter training rides, taking the long way home on the daily commute, or enjoying that charity ride in blissful comfort – the Synapse Alloy is built for enjoying the miles, at whatever pace you choose.
With taper butted and uniquely shaped tubes, joined by their trademark double pass smooth welds, the Synapse Alloy continues Cannondale’s tradition of aluminium mastery. The Synapse Alloy was also the very first Cannondale road bike to feature disc brakes for great stopping power and exceptional control.

Cannondale CAAD Optimo (rim brake Road):
The 2020 CAAD Optimo is the CAAD13’s overachieving little brother – in fact we think it is one of the best value performance bikes on the market right now.
The CAAD Optimo frameset is very far removed from the entry level frames of other brands, but it comes at an entry level price. The reason is quite simple – it makes use of the very same world beating tubing technology that featured in the legendary CAAD10 race bikes that scored countless victories at all levels just a couple of years back. So the R&D is paid off, and paired with a simpler threaded BB the CAAD Optimo now delivers true race like performance in a stunningly affordable package.
With trickle-down tech and a classic fast road geometry, the CAAD Optimo makes a killer performance road bike – while subtle mudguard mounts expand its usability into daily commuting, winter training and general all-round road riding. Available in rim brake versions only, Cannondale have put together thoughtful component specs that create incredible value for money for such a high performing machine.
With prices starting under £600, this bike offers truly incredible value for money.

Genesis Croix de Fer (all-Road):
The Genesis Croix de Fer is nothing short of legendary in the world of multi-terrain bikes. Never has one bike been more worthy of the ‘one bike, many hats’ crown.
The classy looking Croix de Fer is supremely capable, infinitely adaptable and totally reliable. And in its latest versions it has been evolved and refined to be more capable than ever before – it’s still very much the original gravel bike though, with the same ‘go-anywhere, do anything’ attitude that’s been instilled since it’s conception.
If you are looking for that ‘one bike’ that will take you almost anywhere without missing a beat regardless of the punishment you throw at it, come rain or shine; that you’ll be hard pushed to reach its limits; and, most importantly, induce big grins with each and every outing? Then look no further than the Genesis Croix de Fer.
Fast and responsive, yet stable, surefooted and perfectly balanced, the CdF personifies fun on two wheels, paved or unpaved. Commuting duties during the week, evening spins along the lanes in the evening, then epic, multi-terrain adventures at the weekend, the Croix is a capable and adaptable beast of a bike that rarely gets fazed whichever way you point it.
Although the RRP for this bike is over £999, that’s not the case with our everyday low prices. The Croix de Fer 10, in both drop bar and flat bar, come in under budget.

Cannondale Topstone Alloy (All-Road/Gravel):
Named after a favorite dirt road loop near Cannondale’s headquarters in Connecticut, the Topstone is one of our most in-demand bikes of the year. Offering extraordinary value for money, for what is undoubtedly one of the best performing multi-terrain on the market just now, the Topstone is bang on trend as far as UK riding is concerned. A very high quality frameset combines with well thought out components to offer a perfect balance of versatility, reliability and all-road fun. Whether it’s gravel riding, adventure or back road exploration that you’re after – or all three – the Topstone is for you.
With its higher-volume tyres, super confident rider position and sporty handling, the Topstone is ready to smash out big miles on the back-roads, explore routes less traveled, or smooth out the potholes on your morning commute.
The Cannondale Topstone sits alongside the race-proven CAADX as a perfect bike to take on a huge range of surfaces – from rough paved roads through to grass, mud and rocky gravel. While the CAADX is aimed squarely at fast handling for tight turns and muddy off camber riding (including cyclocross racing of course), the Topstone is designed to take you that little further off route, with wilder trail capability and an ideal set up for both adventure riding and longer distance gravel racing. All while still plastering a free-spirited grin on your face – this really is no heavy plodder of a bike!
To get such an incredible all-road bike under £1000 might seem too good to be true, but with the Cannondale Topstone Alloy Sora that’s exactly what you’ll get.
