Aerodynamics

In 2021, UCI regulations changed, giving Scott’s engineers a fresh canvas to redefine what an aero bike could be. From day one, the Foil was designed as a complete system – bike, components, and rider working together for real-world speed. Every design decision was made to reduce drag and deliver the fastest ride possible.

Scott’s industry-leading F01 Airfoil Technology ensures every tube slices through the wind. Junctions are minimized, shapes pushed to the very edge of UCI limits, and integration taken further than ever before. The results speak for themselves: at equal power output, the new Foil is 1 minute 18 seconds faster over 40km compared to the previous model.

Up front, a deeper head tube profile integrates fully hidden cabling, both electronic and mechanical, acting as a fairing to reduce drag. The fork features a deeper cross-section and higher crown, both tuned for aerodynamic advantage.

The downtube and seat-tube demonstrate the importance of real-world testing. Designs that tested fastest in isolation proved slower with a rider on board. By refining with wind-tunnel testing under real conditions, Scott were able to achieve true rider-focused gains.

Dropped seatstays add both comfort and aero efficiency. Angled in at 10 degrees, they direct airflow into the spinning spokes for measurable speed gains. Their placement also hides the disc brake calipers, further reducing drag while giving the bike its clean, aggressive aesthetic.

Lightweight

Traditionally, aero bikes carried a weight penalty. Not the Scott Foil RC. Through a refined carbon layup, fewer pieces and joints, and meticulous attention to details like seatstays and the seat clamp, Scott engineers shaved significant grams without losing stiffness. The result is a bike that’s both faster through the air and lighter on the scale.

Comfort

Performance isn’t just about speed, it’s also about how long you can hold it. With the Foil RC, Syncros components play a critical role in adding comfort without compromising aero efficiency.

The standout is the Creston iC SL Aero Combo handlebar and stem. Developed in the wind tunnel, it’s slimmer, faster, and designed with adaptive compliance: more give under light loads for comfort on the hoods, and rock-solid stiffness when you dive into the drops to unleash maximum power.

The new Duncan SL Aero CFT seatpost further enhances comfort while maintaining an aero profile. And with stock 28mm tires front and rear – and ample clearance for up to 30mm – you get smoother rolling, confident handling, and the ability to adapt to different race or road conditions.
