Our Verdict
The Scott Scale Gravel blends the agility and speed of a performance gravel bike with the capability of an XC mountain bike.
Quite simply, the Scale Gravel 10 is one of the most grin-inducing bikes we’ve ever ridden! With the right tyres, it flies on smoother surfaces thanks to its stiff, race-bred carbon frame – but it’s when you hit the dirt that the Scale Gravel truly comes alive. The large-volume XC tyres soak up chatter and deliver bags of traction when things get loose, muddy, or technical.
The handling is outstanding, largely thanks to the spot-on frame and fork geometry – planted and stable on sweeping, high-speed descents, yet agile and responsive when weaving through tight corners, crossing roots, or switching lines. On climbs, the frame’s stiffness really shows; you’ll find yourself pushing a gear higher than on other bikes. We’ve found it a total joy to ride – especially on the hills of the Welsh borders.
If you’re looking to tackle more demanding gravel terrain or longer rides – and want more comfort and control than a standard gravel bike, without the weight or complexity of an MTB – the Scale Gravel could be perfect for you. A true staff favourite.

So, is the Scale Gravel just a rigid XC mountain bike? Well – not really! It certainly shares the DNA of Scott’s race-winning Scale hardtail, delivering that same razor-sharp responsiveness and stiffness. But, thanks to its unique geometry and clever fork design, it rides like something entirely new.
The Scale Gravel is the perfect fusion of lightweight efficiency and off-road capability. The monocoque carbon frame used in the Scale Gravel 10 and RC is crafted using just three molded sections, reducing junctions to save weight and maximise stiffness. Every watt of power translates into forward momentum, while Scott’s 30 years of carbon expertise ensures a frame that’s as durable as it is refined.
The full carbon fork is a true showcase of craftsmanship — beautifully sculpted, incredibly stiff, and engineered for precision. With generous clearance for 2.4″ tyres, it brings exceptional comfort, traction, and control to rough trails and fast descents alike. In addition, it features discrete fork mount for Anything Cages, which just adds to the bike’s versatility as a highly capable bike-packing rig.
The shorter axle-to-crown length, coupled with a finely tuned fork offset, shifts the geometry away from its hardtail roots — making the Scale Gravel more agile, responsive, and perfectly adapted to typical UK gravel conditions. The lower stack height and shorter trail, combined with lightweight components, a longer stem, and narrower bar setup, create a bike that’s nimble, direct, and confidence-inspiring on any terrain.
The result? A bike that feels planted and playful in equal measure — fast on the flats, agile through the twisty stuff, and rock solid when you point it downhill.
